AMI Environmental (AMI) has provided environmental consulting services at the Douglas County Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska since 1998. Work has been completed in nearly all areas of the facility, including AMI’s most recent project located on the third, fourth and fifth floors.
As part of the initial steps in planning its multi-phased renovation, Douglas County Health Center contracted with AMI to perform an environmental investigation to determine the presence of hazardous materials including asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint and lead-containing building materials. The investigation included a review of all available facility asbestos and lead survey reports; a visual inspection of the work areas; and bulk sampling for laboratory analysis for materials that exhibit a high potential for disturbance during renovation activities.
Following the identification of hazardous materials at the Douglas County Hospital, AMI developed work plan specifi cations for the remediation and abatement of materials that may be impacted during the renovation. AMI also provided compliance monitoring services to ensure overall environmental quality control, regulatory compliance, and health and safety during the abatement phases of the renovation.
