Project Summary:
Since 1991, AMI Environmental (AMI) has provided consulting and analytical services for asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint in occupied and unoccupied facilities throughout Union Pacific Railroad’s 23-state system. The railroad routinely calls upon AMI to manage difficult projects, particularly those requiring a fast-track schedule and has recognized AMI for its exemplary service.

Under its indefinite delivery services contract, AMI performs hazardous materials sampling and analysis on facilities ranging from signal houses, yard towers, warehouses and office buildings to grain elevators, historic rail cars and Union Pacific Railroad’s headquarters.

After hazardous material identification, AMI provides a thorough assessment and delivers creative design plans to fully abate the materials, and performs construction management services duing abatement and demolition activities.

In addition, AMI has also coordinated excavation, removal and closure of 40 underground storage tanks and a buried rail car at 32 sites throughout Texas, Arizona and Kansas. The work also included sampling, pumping, cleaning and disposal of tank product and sludges.

AMI has teamed with UP in the development of an asbestos management program for its major operating facilities. The data is available online in a user-friendly format and allows AMI to track UP’s compliance with asbestos, lead-based paint and life safety requirements, ensuring the railroad continues to meet government specifications.
